Meet Rinu Michael

This way we hope to inspire other women and girls to get into STEM-related fields. In our series ‘In the Spotlight’ we shine a light on an expert in the field and today we’d like you to meet Rinu Michael.

Who is Rinu?
Rinu is a passionate AI Engineer who is currently heading TCS Rapid Innovation Labs for PACE Europe. With over 8 years of experience in the field of Artificial Intelligence, she began her career as an AI Developer and later advanced to the role of AI Lead at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a multinational IT services and consulting company. She stands out with her experience in building multitudes of AI based solutions.
As an Indian national who moved to the Netherlands as part of her role, Rinu puts emphasis on AI innovation while keeping responsibility at its core. As a subject matter expert in TCS, she strongly focuses on sustainable and green coding practices in her work to drive results while adhering to ethical and environmentally conscious principles.
Dedicated to empowering others, she is an inspiring mentor and a strong representative of women in tech giving consultation and guidance on AI to aspiring individuals who are new to the field of Artificial Intelligence. Actively sharing her knowledge, Rinu is also a co-author of the book titled Building Smart Robots Using ROS, a practical guide designed to help enthusiasts begin their journey in AI and Robotics.

Her commitment to green principles is incremental to reduce the environmental impact of AI systems while supporting ethical AI.

As a Contextual Master in TCS, holding significant expertise and knowledge on sustainable and green coding practices, she has built more than 60 advanced business solutions for customers across diverse business domains including healthcare, travel, agriculture, communication and banking, with a focus on AI. Her subject matter expertise in AI and Machine Learning has played an incremental role for her to become an avid problem solver that delivers results in the fields of Neural Networks, Machine Learning, Image Processing, Generative AI, Agentic AI, NLP, Python and cloud implementations. Rinu is committed to using her skills to explore the potential of technology to solve problems and make the world a better place to live!
Leading with Purpose: Mentorship, Representation, and Impact in AI
Beyond her technical expertise, Rinu is also an impactful leader with years of hands-on experience in AI, and mentorship. As a representative of women in technology, she is dedicated to building bridges for others to cross.
Both within her own organization and through her involvement with AI4ALL Netherlands, she actively shares her knowledge and guidance to empower others, showing her commitment to creating a more inclusive tech ecosystem.
In TCS, she has been a mentor to multiple associates and has honed her skills as a technology instructor for the last 6 years to many educators and students who were new to the field of AI.
Through her contribution to AI4All Women Mentor Program that is dedicated to empowering women in AI and tech to achieve their goals and unlock their full potential, Rinu works with young women to guide them into becoming emerging leaders in technology by providing hands-on support to raise their confidence.
“You need programming skills, imagination, common sense and communication skills”, she says and believes that it is important to dive into coding and engage directly with its core concepts to truly understand how AI works and master the knowledge.
As a co-author of the book called Building Smart Robots Using ROS, which offers a beginner level guide to key concepts in AI and Robotics, Rinu showcases her determination to share AI knowledge and nurturing next generation AI professionals.
Through her own story of growth, from developer to leader, author, and mentor, she exemplifies what’s possible when dedication meets passion.
